Sylvia Gonçalves

Sylvia is a professional audiobook narrator who has also worked extensively as a theatre educator, director, and performer.  She is a dual Portuguese citizen who speaks conversationally fluent Portuguese (Iberian Mainland Dialect), and some conversational French.  Accents include British RP, General Southern, French, and Portuguese.

Sylvia's experience growing up in an immigrant family helped fuel her passion for social justice and equity.  This, as well as her love for performance and story, led her to study both Political Science and Theatre in University, combining both disciplines to create a Devised Theatre program for youth that continues to empower adolescents to create award-winning theatre for social change.   Sylvia believes in the transformational power of story to unite and heal.

Story

Sylvia has trained with Hillary Huber and completed Joel Froomkin's Acting for Audio course.  She also narrates under the pseudonym Mikaela Del Rey.

Sylvia's grounded and empathetic approach to acting make her suitable for a variety of genres, including thrillers, paranormal fiction, romance, contemporary fiction, and political non-fiction.

When not creating imaginary worlds in dark windowless rooms, Sylvia can be found making complicated and decadent cakes (to varying degrees of success and mess), chasing the sunshine on outdoor family adventures,  or finding creative ways to embarrass her kids in public (she is always open to hearing new suggestions)!
